Biography

Yvette Man-yi Kong is an innovative art and social innovator who integrates a transdisciplinary approach into her work. She serves as a Lecturer in the Art, Culture, Technology (ACT) program at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Kong is known for pioneering Transversal Design, a methodology that blends art with social innovation. She founded the Transversal Lab, an art innovation studio committed to bridging socially-engaged art with market relevance. A former Olympian, she represented Hong Kong at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics. In her professional journey, she has worked as a consultant for McKinsey & Company and as a product development strategist for Estee Lauder Companies. Passionate about mental wellbeing, she is a founding board member of Mind Hong Kong, a prominent mental health charity in Asia, and is involved with the lululemon Global Advisory Board on Mental Wellbeing. Additionally, she founded Arelyx, an education venture that equips youth and educators with the tools for psychological resilience and creative leadership in an AI-driven world. Kong holds a BA in Cognitive Science from the University of California, Berkeley, an MSc in Performance Psychology from the University of Edinburgh, an MBA from Tsinghua University, and an MSc in Management Studies from MIT Sloan School of Management. She is also a motivational speaker and executive coach, dedicated to helping individuals reach their fullest potential.
