Biography

Yvette Yatchmink, MD, PhD graduated from Yale University in 1977 and completed her MD at Cornell University Medical College in 1986. She obtained her PhD in Developmental Psychology from the University of Michigan. After completing her residency in general pediatrics at Massachusetts General Hospital, she pursued a fellowship in Developmental Behavioral Pediatrics at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center. Upon joining the University of Massachusetts, she directed several clinics focused on young children with various developmental and behavioral issues. Prior to joining Brown University, Dr. Yatchmink served as the Associate Medical Director for the Massachusetts Division of Medical Assistance (Medicaid) and was actively involved in statewide policy regarding Children with Special Health Care Needs. Since 2003, Dr. Yatchmink has been a crucial part of the Division of Developmental Behavioral Pediatrics at Brown, providing clinical care and supervising fellows in the Child Neurology and Developmental Clinics. She also directs the medical student elective 'Child Development and Developmental Disabilities' and mentors residents during their DBP rotation while supporting fellows in their research pursuits. Additionally, Dr. Yatchmink is a member of the editorial boards of both the Journal of Developmental Behavioral Pediatrics and Pediatrics, and she co-chairs the Society for Developmental Behavioral Pediatrics Autism Special Interest Group. Her primary research interests encompass children with complex developmental health care needs, autism spectrum disorders, neonatal outcomes, and Rhode Island policies concerning Children with Special Health Care Needs.
