Yvonne Buys completed her MD degree and Ophthalmology residency at the University of Toronto, followed by a Glaucoma Fellowship. She retired from clinical practice in July 2020 but continues her research focusing on sex disparity in medical practice and the surgical backlog resulting from COVID-19. Outside of her professional life, she is a hobby farmer, bird watcher, and writes a weekly column in Wellington, Ontario.
