Dr. Yvonne Donders

Biography

Yvonne Donders is a Professor of International Human Rights and Cultural Diversity at the University of Amsterdam, where she also serves as the interim Director of the Amsterdam Graduate School. She is an elected member of the UN Human Rights Committee and has a robust background in international law, previously heading the Department of International and European Law at the University of Amsterdam from 2015 to 2022. Donders has extensive experience in human rights advocacy, having worked as a Programme Specialist at UNESCO in Paris and serving as a consultant for various UN bodies. Her research primarily focuses on public international law, specifically international human rights law, and the intersections of economic, social, and cultural rights with cultural diversity. Donders has held positions on editorial boards and advisory councils, contributing to significant human rights initiatives. As a dedicated educator, she teaches courses on international human rights law and regularly lectures at various universities worldwide. Her publications include influential articles in international human rights journals and books on legal frameworks related to cultural identity and rights.
