Dr. Yvonne Donders

Biography

Yvonne Donders is a Professor of International Human Rights and Cultural Diversity at the University of Amsterdam's Faculty of Law, where she also serves as the (interim) Director of the Amsterdam Graduate School. She has a rich academic background, having previously held the position of Head of the Department of International and European Law from 2015 to 2022 and Directing the Amsterdam Center for International Law from 2008 to 2015. An elected member of the UN Human Rights Committee, Yvonne has worked with various human rights organizations and had significant roles with UNESCO as a Programme Specialist in human rights. Her research interests focus on public international law and international human rights law, particularly in economic and social rights as well as cultural diversity. She teaches courses at the University of Amsterdam, including International Human Rights Law at the Master's level and has been a visiting professor in Japan. Yvonne’s extensive publication record includes articles in high-impact journals and contributions to books on cultural rights and international law. Her active participation in academic and advisory roles showcases her commitment to advancing the field of human rights.
