Dr. Yvonne Fabella

Biography

Yvonne Fabella is an Associate Director of Undergraduate Studies in the Department of History at the University of Pennsylvania. She serves as an undergraduate advisor, guiding students through their academic journeys in History. She holds a B.A. in History from American University, an M.A. in History from the University of Maryland at Baltimore County, and a Ph.D. in History from the State University of New York at Stony Brook. Her teaching interests are reflected in her courses, which include 'Pirates, Rebels, and Runaways: Unofficial Histories of the Colonial Caribbean' and 'Race, Slavery, and Revolution in the French Atlantic World.' Additionally, she covers the 'Haitian Revolution' in her courses. Fabella’s research focuses on themes of colonial anxiety and racial and gender dynamics in historical contexts, particularly in French colonial settings. She has published works in significant scholarly outlets, including contributions to edited volumes and journals. Through her interdisciplinary approach, she engages with complex historical narratives.
