Biography

Yvonne Joyce graduated from the University of Strathclyde with a first-class Honours degree in Accounting and Economics. Following her graduation, she began her professional accountancy training with Arthur Andersen and qualified as a Chartered Accountant with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland (ICAS). During her tenure at Arthur Andersen, Yvonne worked in the areas of audit and corporate restructuring, involving business reviews and formal insolvency appointments. She transitioned into a professional lecturing role with ICAS, taking on responsibilities related to the assessment of work-based competencies. In 2011, she joined the Accounting and Finance subject group at the University of Glasgow. Yvonne earned her PhD from the University of Glasgow in 2021. She is a member of the Accounting research cluster and has expertise in corporate insolvency, financial distress, accounting education, and the professionalisation of accounting practices. Yvonne has a broad teaching experience in various subjects related to accounting and finance, currently teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Additionally, she has served in multiple leadership roles, including PGR Convenor for her accounting cluster and various positions within ICAS and BAFA.
