Yvonne van Zeeland graduated with a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) with merit from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at Utrecht University, Netherlands, in 2004. She has become a certified parrot behavior consultant and is a key member of the Veterinary Behaviour Clinic team at Utrecht, addressing behavioral issues in parrots. Since 2009, she has conducted extensive research on feather damaging behavior in grey parrots. Yvonne has actively contributed to the advancement of avian and exotic animal medicine through her lectures, publications, and roles in various professional organizations. She served as the President of the Association of Avian Veterinarians (AAV) from 2018 to 2019 and currently holds several prestigious positions, including the Avian Scientific Chair for the European Association of Avian Veterinarians (EAAV). She received Lafeber’s Avian Practitioner Year Award in 2021 for her outstanding contributions to the field.
