Biography

Zachary D. Clopton serves as the Interim Dean and is the Daniel Hale Williams Professor at the Northwestern Pritzker School of Law. He is a nationally recognized scholar specializing in civil procedure, complex litigation, and international litigation. His recent works have been published in prestigious journals, such as the Yale Law Journal and the Stanford Law Review. Clopton was appointed by Chief Justice John Roberts to the Advisory Committee on Civil Rules, reflecting his significant influence on procedural rules governing federal courts. He has also held multiple roles within the law school, including Associate Dean for Academic Programs and Associate Dean for Research and Intellectual Life. Prior to joining Northwestern, Clopton served as an Associate Professor of Law at Cornell Law School and worked as an Assistant United States Attorney in Chicago. He clerked for Judge Diane P. Wood on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit and was a Public Law Fellow at the University of Chicago Law School. Clopton holds a BA from Yale University, an MPhil in International Relations from the University of Cambridge, and a JD from Harvard Law School.
