Biography

Zachary Rowan is an associate professor in the School of Criminology at Simon Fraser University. He received his doctorate in criminology from the University of Maryland in 2016 and subsequently completed a post-doctoral fellowship at the University of California, Irvine. His research broadly focuses on juvenile justice, peer influence, co-offending group behavior, and life-course and developmental criminology. He is interested in the role of peer dynamics in influencing criminal behavior and explores group behaviors within the context of crime. Additionally, Rowan conducts intervention evaluations aimed at juvenile justice reforms. His selected publications address the dynamics of co-offending and the influence of economic factors on criminal contexts. He is also involved in significant grants aimed at improving youth justice programming in British Columbia.
