Dr. Zachary Whyte

Biography

Zachary Whyte is an Associate Professor at the Centre for Advanced Migration Studies (AMIS) at the University of Copenhagen. He works with asylum seekers and refugees in Denmark and across Europe, focusing on the intersections of transnationality, state practices, uncertainty, and everyday life. His research includes a DPhil from the University of Oxford, which involved a year of ethnographic fieldwork at a Danish asylum centre, and a postdoctoral position at the University of Copenhagen, where he examined refugees' experiences in Danish language schools. He has led numerous academic advisory projects involving asylum seekers, refugees, local communities, and various stakeholders including state and civil society actors, emphasizing collaborative research on migration issues.
