Biography

Zara Anwarzai received her PhD in Philosophy with a focus on Cognitive Science from Indiana University in 2024. Her current research investigates the social dimensions of skill and expertise, particularly how traditional inquiry intersects with cognitive and epistemological mechanisms involved in skill acquisition. This work examines the abilities of individual skilled performers as well as skills expressed in collaborative contexts such as team sports and ensemble performances. Her philosophical inquiries extend into the phenomenology of automaticity in the workplace, the structure of skilled actions, and the relationships between standards of expertise and capital.
