Biography

Zelia Gallo is a Senior Lecturer in Criminal Law at King's College London. She holds a BA in Law Studies in Europe from Oxford University and an MSc in Sociology of Crime and Deviance from the London School of Economics (LSE). Dr. Gallo earned her PhD at LSE in the Law Department, where she worked as a Research Fellow from 2013 to 2015. Dr. Gallo's research interests include the sociology of punishment, political economy, and the contemporary penal landscape, with a specific focus on penal systems in Italy, England, and Wales. She also investigates the criminalization of immigration and its implications for contemporary punishment, alongside an interest in violent crime and accurate comparative measures of serious interpersonal violence.
