Dr. Zenon Medina Cetina

Biography

Zenon Medina-Cetina is an Associate Professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Texas A&M University. He holds a Ph.D. from Johns Hopkins University, earned in 2006. His research focuses on stochastic geomechanics, including stochastic processes and spatio-temporal simulations. He specializes in risk and reliability analysis, uncertainty identification, characterization, and propagation, as well as inverse problems using Bayesian methods. His work encompasses photomechanics, geostatistics for probabilistic site characterization, and optimal modeling and simulation of structures. Additionally, he explores the development of early warning systems and causal analysis using influence diagrams and Bayesian networks. Dr. Medina-Cetina is also known for his contributions to scientific computing, particularly in the area of parallelization and Monte Carlo methods, integrating geologic, geophysical, and geotechnical data for comprehensive site characterization.
