Dr. Zenta Walther

Biography

Zenta Walther, MD, PhD, is an associate professor at the Yale School of Medicine specializing in pathology, particularly gastrointestinal and liver pathology, as well as molecular diagnostics of surgical pathology specimens. She served as the Clinical Director for the Yale New Haven Hospital Tumor Profiling Laboratory for 12 years until the end of 2023, focusing on molecular genomic analyses of solid tumor specimens to enable the identification of therapeutic targets for individual patients' cancers, thereby promoting precision medicine in oncology. As a key faculty member and director of the Molecular Genetic Pathology Fellowship, Dr. Walther is committed to advancing personalized medicine through the use of molecular diagnostic techniques, particularly next-generation sequencing, to analyze mutations in tumors targeted by specific cancer drugs. She is actively engaged in translational research to study genetic alterations in tumors and their implications for targeted therapies to improve treatment regimens and outcomes for cancer patients.
