Biography

Zenzi M. Griffin is a Professor in the Department of Psychology at the University of Texas at Austin. She earned her BA in Psychology from Michigan State University in 1993 and her PhD in Cognitive Psychology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 1998, with a minor in Linguistics. Dr. Griffin then served as an Assistant Professor of Psychology at Stanford University before moving to Georgia Tech in the summer of 2001, where she was promoted to Associate Professor in 2005. Since 2008, she has been a faculty member at the University of Texas at Austin. Her research focuses on the psychological processes underlying speech production, with particular attention to how individuals plan the words and sentence structures they use during utterances and how this affects fluency. Current projects involve learning and retrieval of personal names and her work includes collaboration in publications that engage bilinguals and children. Dr. Griffin is also involved in advising graduate students, particularly those interested in language production with adults and is open to co-advising students who have interdisciplinary research interests.
