Biography

Zhan Shu received a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Automation from Huazhong University of Science and Technology in 2003 and a Ph.D. degree in Control Engineering from the University of Hong Kong in 2008, under the supervision of Prof. James Lam. During his doctoral research, he received the award for Outstanding Research Postgraduate Student from the University of Hong Kong. He served as a Post-Doctoral Fellow at the Hamilton Institute, National University of Ireland, Maynooth, from 2009 to 2011, and then worked as a Lecturer in the Faculty of Engineering and Physical Sciences at the University of Southampton from 2011 to 2019. In 2020, he joined the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Alberta as a faculty member and is currently a Professor. He is a Senior Member of IEEE and a Member of IET, serving as an invited reviewer for Mathematical Reviews at the American Mathematical Society. He also holds the position of Associate Editor for several journals including the Mathematical Problems in Engineering, Asian Journal of Control, and the Journal of Franklin Institute.
