Biography

Zhaohui Tong is an Associate Professor and James C. Barber Faculty Fellow at the School of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering. She received her PhD in Chemical Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology in 2007 and her BS in Chemical Engineering from Changsha University of Science and Technology in 1995. Her research focuses on sustainable materials and catalytic conversion, aiming to develop innovative technologies for producing chemicals, materials, energy, and fuels from renewable resources. Her lab works on functional biomaterials aimed at high-efficiency circular economy, platform chemicals, hydrocarbon fuels, and sustainable process control modeling. Additionally, her studies include nano-biomaterial synthesis through self-assembly and polymer degradation for recycling.
