Biography

Zhaojun Bai is a Distinguished Professor in the Department of Computer Science and the Department of Mathematics at the University of California, Davis. He is also a Computer Scientist at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. Dr. Bai obtained his PhD from Fudan University in China and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Courant Institute, New York University. His primary research interests lie in linear algebra, algorithm design and analysis, and the application of mathematical software engineering in computational science and engineering, as well as data science. He has actively participated in several synergistic projects, including LAPACK, and has served on the editorial boards of various journals, such as the ACM Transactions on Mathematical Software (ACM TOMS) and Science China Mathematics. Dr. Bai has held numerous professional positions and is a Fellow of the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (SIAM).
