Biography

Zhaojun Wang is an Assistant Professor in Marine Coastal Environmental Science at Texas A&M University Galveston. Wang holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Marine Science Policy from the University of Delaware, earned in 2021, alongside a Master of Engineering in Logistics Engineering from Nankai University in 2016 and a Bachelor of Science in Shipping Management from Dalian Maritime University in 2014. His research interests mainly focus on evidence-based decision-making analysis, marine policy development, and addressing shipborne environmental issues, including marine invasions, air pollution, and greenhouse gas emissions. Wang has contributed to various research publications on topics such as the economic impacts of ballast water regulations, the effects of shipping costs on maritime trade, and the dynamics of species spread risk via maritime activities. He is actively involved in presenting his work at various international conferences and has been appointed as a Research Associate at the Smithsonian Environmental Research Center from August 2025. Wang is committed to enhancing marine environmental protection through his research and advocacy for sustainable marine policies.
