Dr. Zhaolin Chen

Biography

Zhaolin Chen is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Data Science and AI at Monash University, Australia. He completed his PhD in Biomedical Imaging from the Faculty of Engineering at Monash University, where his work received the Douglas Lampard Research Prize Medal. Dr. Chen has previously served as a Research Fellow at the University of Melbourne and at the Florey Neuroscience Institutes, and has industry experience in medical imaging technology in Europe. He is an Australian Research Council MCR Industry Fellow and has been pivotal in the establishment of the Australian Point Care MRI network at the National Imaging Facility. His leadership in Biomedical Imaging includes image analysis, and he currently serves as an Associate Editor for the IEEE International Symposium on Biomedical Imaging (ISBI). Dr. Chen is internationally recognized for his research output, with over 100 peer-reviewed publications across prestigious journals, including Nature Machine Intelligence and Medical Image Analysis. His efforts also extend to securing significant research funding and mentoring PhD candidates. Moreover, his work's translational impact includes contributions to ten patents, half of which have resulted in commercialized medical imaging devices. He is committed to advancing educational mentorship and has a strong focus on community service within the scientific sector.
