Biography

Zhen Jiang, MD, PhD, is an Associate Professor at the Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine at Boston University. He gained his MD from Jiangxi University of Traditional Chinese Medicine and earned his PhD in biochemistry from University College, University of London. With extensive training in pharmacology at Peking Union Medical College and postdoctoral research at the Joslin Diabetes Center, he has held various academic roles, including an Instructor at Harvard Medical School and a research assistant professor at the University of Massachusetts Medical School. In 2008, he became an Assistant Professor and has been a faculty member since 2013. His research interests focus on understanding the relationships between nutritional factors, obesity, gut microbiota, myelopoiesis, innate immunity, and metabolic functions. He explores how innate immunity regulates vascular functions and investigates the role of phosphoproteins in metabolism and inflammation through various lab techniques, including flow cytometry and genetically modified models.
