Biography

Zhen Zhao received his Ph.D. from Northwestern University in 2010, whereafter he completed a postdoctoral fellowship in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Washington University School of Medicine. He also served as a Clinical Chemistry Fellow and later as Chief Clinical Chemistry Fellow at that institution. Dr. Zhao became certified as a Diplomate of the American Board of Clinical Chemistry in 2012. He was appointed as a Staff Scientist at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) from 2012 to 2017, where he worked as a Clinical Chemist in the Clinical Center, Department of Laboratory Medicine, and is the Associate Director of the Training Program in Clinical Chemistry at NIH. Currently, he serves as a Professor of Clinical Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at Weill Cornell Medical College, Cornell University. Dr. Zhao has established himself as a leading clinical chemist with considerable expertise in clinical assay development, focusing on the translation of new biomarkers and technologies for patient care. He is involved in various professional organizations and collaborations aimed at fostering scientific information exchange and innovation in the field of clinical chemistry.
