Biography

Zhengao Di is a postdoctoral researcher in the Department of Plant Sciences at the University of Cambridge, focusing on the transcriptional network in roots of Arabidopsis and tomato in response to changing nitrogen conditions. He has developed a keen interest in applying single-cell mRNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) techniques to unravel the spatial distribution of nitrogen-responsive transcription factor networks across various cell types in roots. His research aims to harness knowledge gained from scRNA-seq to facilitate cell-type-specific engineering of nitrogen-responsive networks, thereby improving plant performance under nitrogen-limiting conditions. Prior to joining the Patron lab, he completed his PhD in Julian Hibberd's lab at the University of Cambridge, specializing in engineering C4 photosynthesis. Dr. Di is particularly interested in developing artificial systems and enhancing automation methods to accelerate studies of physiological processes in plants.
