Biography

Zhenliang Ma is an Associate Professor in Transportation Science at KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, Sweden. He specializes in Transportation Systems and is affiliated with the Division of Transport Planning. He completed his Ph.D. in Transportation Engineering at the University of Queensland in 2015, and also holds a Master of Science in Information Technology from 2012 and a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Shandong University from 2009. His research interests focus on statistics-based modeling and simulation, optimization and control of mobility-related complex systems, as well as intelligent transport systems and multimodal mobility systems. Dr. Ma is actively engaged in scientific publishing, serving as an Associate Editor for IEEE Transactions on Intelligent Transportation Systems and the Journal of Public Transportation, and participating on the Editorial Board for SAGE Transactions on Urban Data. He has also been involved with the NASEM Transportation Research Board as a Committee Member. Prior to joining KTH, he worked as a Lecturer at Monash University from 2019 to 2021 and as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology from 2016 to 2019, where he co-managed the MIT-MTR Hong Kong research partnership. He teaches several courses at KTH including Applied Artificial Intelligence in Transportation and Traffic Flow Theory.
