Dr. Zhitao Ying

Biography

Rex (Zhitao) Ying is a Professor at Yale Engineering. He specializes in Graph and Geometric Learning, focusing on the development of expressive, scalable, and explainable algorithms that utilize relational inductive bias in data expressed in graph structures. His research interests include graph neural networks, modeling complex real-world data, and applications in areas such as recommender systems, anomaly detection, social network analysis, and drug discovery. Ying has had significant academic contributions, with notable publications in top-tier conferences including NeurIPS, KDD, and ICML. He has organized workshops at major conferences and has led projects like the PyTorch Geometric Library. Ying is currently looking for Ph.D. students who are passionate about advancing research in geometric deep learning and can address novel real-world problems using graph-based methods.
