Biography

Zhongxiao Peng completed his PhD in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Western Australia in 2000. He began his academic career as a lecturer at James Cook University (JCU) in August 1999, where he worked for twelve years and led the Mechanical Engineering discipline from 2008 to early 2011. In August 2011, he joined the School of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering at the University of New South Wales (UNSW) Sydney, where he currently leads the Tribology Machine Condition Monitoring research group. His research interests include wear analysis of mechanical bio-engineering systems, machine condition monitoring, vibration-based fault detection, and the application of artificial intelligence in analyzing the degradation process of mechanical systems. He collaborates internationally and nationally on projects related to tribology and has access to advanced research facilities. Zhongxiao actively recruits PhD and Master's students who are eager to develop experimental and analytical skills in these fields.
