Biography

Zhongyi Yuan is an Associate Professor at Smeal College of Business, specializing in Risk Management. His research interests include catastrophe risk management, tail risk analysis, and insurance risk securitization. His work has been published in leading actuarial journals such as ASTIN Bulletin, European Actuarial Journal, Insurance: Mathematics and Economics, and North American Actuarial Journal. He has a Ph.D. in Statistics (Actuarial Science) from the University of Iowa and a Master’s degree in Applied Mathematics from the Chinese Academy of Sciences. He has taught various actuarial courses that prepare students for professional exams and emphasize real-world applications of actuarial principles. Additionally, his expertise is acknowledged within the actuarial community through collaborative efforts and contributions to significant research.
