Biography

Zhou Wang is a Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Waterloo. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and the Royal Society of Canada (RSC), as well as a member of the Canadian Academy of Engineering (CAE). A certified Professional Engineer, Dr. Wang has received numerous accolades, including the 2021 Faculty of Engineering Excellence in Graduate Supervision Award and the 2021 Technology Emmy Award. His research interests focus on signal and image processing, computational vision, multimedia coding, and biomedical signal processing, totaling over 200 publications with more than 80,000 citations. Notable awards include the NSERC E.W.R. Steacie Memorial Fellowship and the IEEE Signal Processing Society Paper Awards. Dr. Wang is also an active contributor to the academic community, serving on editorial boards and technical committees for several prestigious IEEE publications. His work has significantly impacted the field and he continues to teach and supervise graduate students in related areas.
