Biography

Dr. Ziad Al-Ani was awarded an MSc in Prosthodontics from Manchester University in 1999, followed by a doctorate in 2004 with a thesis titled 'Studies in Temporomandibular Disorders and Occlusion'. He commenced his teaching career at Manchester University, where he served as a Clinical Teacher in Restorative Dentistry and later became the Research Coordinator for the TMD clinic. In 2007, he was officially appointed as the Director of the IADR Prosthodontics Research Group and was nominated for a position in 2010. He obtained MFDS from the Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh, in 2006. His teaching contributions have been recognized with several awards, including the 'Excellence in Teaching Award' from the Association of Dental Education Europe in 2015. Dr. Al-Ani has received multiple accolades for his educational contributions, including being a finalist for the 'Teacher of the Year' by the Dental Defence Union in 2006 and being nominated for the 'Best Teacher' awards by Glasgow University in subsequent years. He has authored textbooks on Temporomandibular Disorders and contributed significantly to advancing educational practices in dental education.
