Professor Dr. Ziad Shawwash

Biography

Ziad Shawwash is a faculty member in the Department of Civil Engineering at the University of British Columbia. His research focuses on structural engineering, particularly in the areas of earthquake engineering, building performance, and risk assessment methodologies. With a strong background in developing analytical models for assessing structures under seismic loads, Shawwash contributes to advancing the safety and resilience of buildings in earthquake-prone regions. His work includes the design of innovative structural systems and the application of performance-based design principles.
