Biography

Ziad Youssfi joined the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department at Carnegie Mellon University as an Associate Teaching Professor in 2022. Previously, he was a tenured Associate Professor at Ohio Northern University, where he taught computer architecture, VLSI, embedded systems, and operating systems. He was instrumental in creating and teaching new courses in deep learning and hands-on maker engineering while helping to restructure the curriculum across the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering and Computer Science. His research interests include innovations that integrate deep learning with embedded systems and robotics, as well as promoting hands-on maker-style learning within electrical and computer engineering. He has received several accolades, including the Henry Horldt Outstanding Teacher Award and the Endowed Alter Chair Award. In his free time, he enjoys fine art photography and watercolor painting, having exhibited his work in local galleries and won multiple awards.
