Biography

Ziang Liu is an economic historian specializing in early modern and modern China. He received his PhD in Economic History from the London School of Economics. Before joining King's College London, he served as an ESRC Early Career Fellow at the London School of Economics, and also held positions as a visiting fellow at Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg and as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Hong Kong. His teaching experience includes undergraduate courses focused on Chinese global history. His research interests encompass global economic history, state capacity, labor markets, wages, and living standards, particularly in the context of China from the 15th to the 20th century. Liu actively engages in public discussions, contributing daily press articles to platforms such as the South China Morning Post and Singapore's Lianhe Zaobao.
