Dr. Ziang Xiao

Biography

Ziang Xiao is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science at Johns Hopkins University and a member of the Data Science and AI Institute. His research is motivated by fundamental questions about understanding human behavior at scale, aiming to conduct robust and generalizable studies. His goal is to enhance human-AI interaction and expand knowledge in this field. Xiao's current research focuses on impactful areas such as AI social science, human-centered model evaluation, and information seeking. Broadly, his work lies at the intersection of human-computer interaction, natural language processing, and social personality psychology. He completed his PhD in computer science at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and before joining Johns Hopkins, he was a postdoctoral researcher in the Fairness, Accountability, Transparency, Ethics group at Microsoft Research Montréal.
