Biography

Zihui Zhao is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mathematics at Johns Hopkins University, beginning in 2023. He previously served as an NSF Postdoctoral Fellow and instructor at the University of Chicago from August 2019. Zhao's research focuses on the intersection of Geometric Measure Theory, Geometric Analysis, Harmonic Analysis, and Partial Differential Equations (PDEs), particularly concerning regularity problems related to elliptic PDEs and generalized minimal submanifolds. His specific interests include regularity for area-minimizing currents, unique continuation problems, and the properties of harmonic elliptic measures in relation to elliptic boundary value problems. Zhao has engaged in collaborative research while mentoring under renowned mathematicians and has also been a member of the Institute for Advanced Study during the Special Year in Variational Methods and Geometry, where he collaborated with expert peers in the field. He is dedicated to making complex jargons understandable through non-technical explanations and actively participates in teaching and organizing various academic workshops and sessions.
