Biography

Ziwen Wang is a postdoctoral researcher holding a British Academy International Fellowship. She graduated in Spanish Studies from Guangdong University of Foreign Studies and South China Business College in China, and pursued her MA and PhD in Spanish Philology at the Autonomous University of Barcelona, Spain. Her research primarily focuses on the history of Romance languages, specifically the nominal morphology and its interaction with grammatical gender and number. Her current project, funded by the BA, examines the phenomenon of genus alternans in Romance languages, providing a psycholinguistically and semantically based account of its diachrony from a Pan-Romance perspective. She joined the faculty in March 2024 and has contributed to the academic discourse on language change, grammatical gender, historical linguistics, and linguistic typology through her teachings and publications.
