Dr. Ziyang Lyu

Biography

Ziyang Lyu is a Lecturer in the School of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of New South Wales, Australia. He completed his Ph.D. in Statistics at the Australian National University in 2020. Following his doctoral studies, he worked as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Queensland from 2020 to 2021, before joining the University of New South Wales in 2021. His research primarily focuses on asymptotic analysis and mixed models, with particular emphasis on crossed random effects and finite Gaussian mixture models. He has a deep interest in machine learning and pattern recognition, especially from a statistical perspective, with a focus on semi-supervised learning. He is also involved in various teaching and supervision roles in undergraduate and postgraduate courses, including Data Management and Statistical Analysis, Introduction to Probability and Stochastic Processes, and Applied Regression Analysis.
