Biography

Zoë Sinel is an Associate Professor at Western Law, Western University, where she researches and teaches private law and legal theory, with a particular focus on torts and remedies. Her scholarly work spans doctrinal and theoretical aspects of law and has been published in reputable journals such as the University of Toronto Law Journal and the Oxford Journal of Legal Studies. Currently, she is engaged in a SSHRC-funded project exploring the intersections of tort law and emotions, resulting in her forthcoming monograph titled "Feelings: Tort Law Theory and Emotion." A founding member of the SSHRC-funded Tort Law and Social Equality Project, she is dedicated to creating a network of tort law scholars who examine the social contexts of tort law and its implications for marginalized groups. Sinel has been recognized with the Faculty Scholar designation at Western University for the academic years 2020-2022 and is currently serving as the Associate Dean of Research and Graduate Studies at Western Law. She has previously held a visiting researcher position at Harvard Law School. Sinel completed her SJD degree at the University of Toronto under the supervision of Ernest Weinrib. She actively supervises graduate students interested in tort law, private law theory, and private law remedies.
