Dr. Zoran Oklopcic

Biography

Zoran Oklopcic is an Associate Professor in the Department of Law and Legal Studies at Carleton University. His research focuses on a diverse array of topics including constitutional theory, normative political theory, and international law. Oklopcic’s work examines the interplay between self-determination and state formation, as well as the challenges posed by constitutional pluralism. His notable publication, "Beyond People: Social Imaginary Constituent Imagination," released in February 2018 as part of the Oxford Constitutional Theory series, explores the social imaginaries underpinning constitutional orders in post-Cold War contexts. He has contributed articles to several peer-reviewed journals and has been involved with prestigious fellowships at institutions such as Harvard Law School and NYU School of Law. Oklopcic teaches both introductory and advanced courses on modern constitutionalism and public international law at Carleton University, where he continues to undertake long-term research projects.
