Dr. Zuhair Ibrahim

Biography

Zuhair Ibrahim is a Part-Time Lecturer at the Viterbi School of Engineering, University of Southern California, specializing in Aerospace Mechanical Engineering. He teaches courses AME 331 (Heat Transfer) and AME 430 (Thermal Systems Design). His expertise encompasses thermal and mechanical devices in industrial equipment, applying principles of mechanical engineering, thermodynamics, and fluid dynamics to investigate loss containment events related to large loss fires and explosions. He conducts process safety and risk assessments, as well as design and performance reviews on a variety of equipment including industrial, transportation, and consumer appliances. Zuhair has extensive experience evaluating site and equipment-specific procedures, as well as engineering regulatory controls devised to mitigate potential events. He leads multidisciplinary teams in assessing the integrity of large assets and potential failure mechanisms. His research interests include combustion, flame dynamics, explosions, failure investigation, and root cause analysis.
