Biography

Zvonimir Bašić joined the Adam Smith Business School as a Lecturer in Economics in September 2023. Prior to this, he obtained his PhD from the Bonn Graduate School of Economics and served as a Senior Research Fellow (Postdoc) at the Max Planck Institute for Research on Collective Goods in Bonn. Zvonimir is an applied microeconomist specializing in behavioral experimental economics. He is currently the director of the Glasgow Experimental Lab (GaEL). Zvonimir is a member of the School's Applied Economics research cluster, focusing on the foundations of prosociality, cooperative and moral behavior. His research emphasizes the underlying drivers of behavior, such as norms, social image concerns, and social identity, exploring their developmental roots from a young age. His work aims to answer key questions regarding the behavioral drivers that influence generosity, honesty, and cooperation, alongside the implications for developing policies aimed at promoting positive behaviors. He employs a variety of experimental approaches, including lab, online, and field experiments, as well as utilizing various microeconometric tools. Zvonimir is also interested in supervising PhD students in the areas of behavioral experimental economics and applied microeconomics.
