Dr. André Zaccarin

Biography

André Zaccarin was the Dean of the Faculty of Science and Engineering from 2017 to 2025. He served as the Director of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering from 2008 to 2016 and was the interim Director of the School of Actuarial Science for three years. He specializes in image and video processing as well as computer vision, having supervised or co-supervised 20 graduate students. He is a co-inventor of four patents and has co-authored approximately fifty scientific publications, one of which won the Best Paper Award from IEEE Transactions on Circuits and Systems for Video Technology in 1994. In the early 2000s, he was a researcher at Intel Corporation's laboratories in California.
