Biography

Beth Archer-Kuhn joined the Faculty of Social Work at the University of Calgary in August 2015, bringing twenty-five years of practice experience, primarily focused on child welfare. With 23 years as a clinical social worker, she has held roles including clinical director and executive director, contributing to child custody access evaluations in Ontario's family courts for 15 years. Her research interests span child custody decision-making, domestic violence, and the interface with social work, child welfare, and mental health. An advocate for inquiry-based learning, Beth's teaching methodology integrates research to cultivate critically reflexive practitioners across BSW, MSW, and PhD programs. She has co-authored works focused on inquiry-based learning in higher education and leads various research projects evaluating child custody and domestic violence impact on families. Beth aims to foster partnerships within her areas of expertise, enhancing practice and educational frameworks.
