David Klingbeil is an Associate Professor in the School Psychology Program at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He earned his Doctorate in Educational Psychology from the University of Minnesota in 2013, following a Master’s degree in the same field in 2010, and a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in 2006. Dr. Klingbeil has significant experience in academic settings, having worked at the University of Texas at Austin and the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee prior to his current role. His research primarily focuses on multi-tiered systems of support in schools, particularly concerning prevention and early intervention frameworks. He aims to identify evidence-based practices to support the academic and social-behavioral development of students while increasing the feasible use of those practices in educational environments. He has contributed to numerous independent evaluations of popular screening tools for elementary and middle school grades and is known for his work in single-case experimental designs to evaluate academic outcomes. He has also been involved in projects funded by the Institute of Education Sciences, including one focused on literacy interventions. In 2020, he received the Lightner Witmer Award for early career scholarship from the American Psychological Association's Division 16 (School Psychology).
