Don B. Russell is a Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Texas A&M University. He holds the Harry E. Bovay, Jr. Chair and is a University Distinguished Professor. A recognized leader in the field, he is a member of the National Academy of Engineering and has served as Past President of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) Power and Energy Society. Russell has made significant contributions to electric power engineering, particularly in power system protection, control automation, and real-time diagnostics. He has been instrumental in the ethical practice of engineering and professionalism within the discipline, guiding students and practitioners alike. His work has garnered numerous awards, including the Millennium Medal from IEEE and the Meritorious Service Award from the Power Energy Society. Russell's educational background includes a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Oklahoma and both an M.E. and B.S. from Texas A&M University.
