Stacy Tantum received a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and Economics from Tufts University in 1994, followed by a Master of Science and a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Duke University in 1996 and 1998, respectively. During the summer of 1996, she worked as a Summer Research Assistant at the SACLANT Undersea Research Center in La Spezia, Italy, where she collaborated with an international team of research scientists on PhD research related to passive sonar. Currently, she is an Associate Professor of the Practice in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Duke University, where she also serves as the Faculty Director of the 360 Coaching Program, providing first-year advising in the Pratt School of Engineering. Her research interests lie in several areas including physics-based statistical signal processing, context-aware machine learning, domain-informed data science, neuroscience-informed teaching, metacognition, cognitive load theory, and mindset-aware learning.
