Biography

Prasanta K. Kalita is a Professor in the Department of Agricultural & Biological Engineering at the University of Illinois System, where he also serves as a Presidential Fellow. A Fellow of the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers and the Indian Society of Agricultural Engineering, Dr. Kalita’s research areas encompass water resources management, environmental sustainability, and food security. He is recognized for his commitment to educational development and capacity building, along with substantial contributions to international engagement related to water resources, food production, and food security issues. Over the years, Dr. Kalita has received numerous accolades for his excellence in teaching and leadership, including the Sheth Distinguished Faculty Award for International Achievement at the University of Illinois and the Paul Funk Recognition Award from the College of ACES. His international relationships extend to honorary professor positions at the Harbin Institute of Technology and Hebei Agricultural University in China. Dr. Kalita’s dedication to his students and research has established him as a prominent figure in his field, as evidenced by his consistent recognition through various awards throughout his career.
