Associate Professor

Biography

Tal Linzen is an Associate Professor in the Department of Linguistics at New York University, where he also holds a position as a Research Scientist at Google. His research focuses on the intersection of linguistic behavior and computational methods, leveraging behavioral experiments to investigate how individuals learn and understand language. Linzen employs computational techniques to analyze language processing, including large language models, post-training evaluation, and interpretability. He is actively involved in teaching and mentoring students, with a particular interest in accepting PhD candidates starting in Fall 2026. Furthermore, Linzen is currently seeking post-doctoral researchers to collaborate on projects that explore cognitively plausible language models, training data influences, and advanced modeling, emphasizing the importance of interpretability in AI applications.
