Biography

Margarita Jimenez-Silva is a Professor in the School of Education at the University of California, Davis. She holds a Doctorate in Human Development Psychology from Harvard University and has extensive experience in teacher education, focusing on culturally and linguistically diverse learners, particularly emergent bilinguals. Her research interests encompass teacher education pedagogy, curriculum development, educational policy, and family/community engagement. Jimenez-Silva’s work has been published in renowned journals such as Harvard Educational Review and Childhood Education. Prior to her tenure in higher education, she taught math and science to newcomer students in Oakland, California. Her contributions include coordinating programs for bilingual teachers in various countries, highlighting her commitment to addressing the educational needs of diverse populations.
