Daniel Collins is an Instructional Associate Professor at Texas A&M University, specializing in Organic Chemistry and General Chemistry. With nearly a decade of teaching experience, he is dedicated to helping undergraduate students navigate challenging topics through innovative teaching methods. Collins has been actively involved in various initiatives aimed at improving the first-year student experience, including the Hullabaloo U program, which offers support and strategies for academic success. He has recently been named the Co-Director of Outreach for the Department of Chemistry, focusing on expanding engagement and educational events for prospective STEM students. In addition to teaching, Collins is passionate about outreach and has served as a moderator and judge for science competitions at both regional and national levels. His commitment to student success has earned him multiple awards, including the 2023 First-Year Experience Outstanding Advocate Award and the 2022 University-Level Distinguished Teaching Award. His research interests include utilizing online educational tools and active learning techniques to enhance student engagement in chemistry courses. Originally from Dayton, Ohio, Collins received his B.S. in Chemistry from the University of Dayton and his Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of South Carolina. He has also taught at several institutions, including Presbyterian College and Florida State University, before joining Texas A&M.
